In the early part of 2020, the streets of Melbourne, Australia, served as the backdrop for a newfound friendship and partnership between Pia Gould and Paul Tocatlian. As time unfolded, their collaborations blossomed, giving rise to a series of projects that showcased Pia’s creativity and talent.
The Beginning of Our Photographic Journey
Our journey began on the streets of Melbourne, where Pia, as a model, skillfully embraced the role of a hair and makeup artist before the camera. Anchored in her director’s chair against the vibrant urban canvas, she transformed an ordinary location into a hotbed of creativity. This initial photoshoot set the foundation for future collaborations, where Pia showcased an extraordinary flair not only in front of the lens but also in orchestrating the artistic nuances behind the scenes, encapsulating the spirit of a true creative maven.
A Date with Elegance at Anton Venoir
As our collaborative partnership flourished, we embarked on an ambitious project at Anton Venoir, a haven for antique French furniture and fine arts. This venue, reflecting the grandeur of the Louis XV and Louis XVI eras, became the setting for an all-day photoshoot involving ten models.
In this lavish ambiance, echoing the charm of the 18th and 19th centuries, Pia gracefully embraced dual roles – again. She not only graced the frame as a model but also crafted distinct looks for all involved as a dedicated hair and makeup artist. This endeavor showcased Pia’s ability to balance diverse roles, epitomizing the spirit of a truly collaborative project.
From Melbourne to International Editorials
Pia initiated efforts to promote our work to a wider audience. She actively sought opportunities to feature our initial collaboration in a magazine, expanding the scope of our first photoshoot. Her proactive approach was mirrored in the submissions from the Anton Venoir project, highlighting her commitment to fostering and promoting our projects.
Upon my return to California, Pia joined as a founding team member of Kisau Photography, lending her expertise as a magazine consultant. This development reinforced her standing as a valued creative partner and a cherished friend, nurturing a bond that spans continents.

Pia’s Foray into the Philippine Modeling Industry
Pia’s initial experiences as a model were firmly instilled in the Philippines. Over a span of five years, she engaged with brands such as Samsung, Captain Morgan, Toblerone, and Nescafé, assuming roles such as brand ambassador and runway model. During this time, she took part in editorial projects. She participated in beauty and bikini pageants, even earning a feature in Playboy Philippines in 2013, underscoring her established presence as a model.
Setting Sights on Australia
After settling in Australia, Pia continued to pursue modeling opportunities, securing representation with reputable agencies like Real People and, later, Silverfox Management Australia. Expanding her repertoire, she ventured into acting and content creation, securing roles in ABC comedy series “Superwog 2” and lending her voice to “Utopia.” Additionally, Pia appeared in commercials for well-known Australian brands and graced the runway at the Melbourne Fashion Festival ARTZ 2022.
Developing Expertise Behind the Scenes
Parallel to her on-screen endeavors, Pia nurtured a career as a hair and makeup artist, accumulating five years of experience in the field. Specializing in editorial, runway, commercial, and television projects, she collaborated with organizations, including the Australian Academy of Modeling and the Bayside Talent children’s modeling agency. Her makeup and hairstyling artistry found a home in collaborations with brands such as Sir Charles Club, oobi, and Sherif, being featured in publications like GT Magazine and The Little Magazine.
Seeking to broaden her portfolio, Pia ventured into the role of a photo editor, committing three years to the meticulous oversight of over 100 magazine submissions. This endeavor not only refined her skills in discerning visual details but also facilitated the growth of a network of industry contacts spanning the United States and Europe. Amidst handling multifaceted responsibilities, she upheld a spirit of openness to collaborations and constructive feedback. This proactive stance not only nurtured valuable connections but also offered a rejuvenated outlook for her future ventures.
