I’m excited to share that a photoshoot from earlier this summer made it to the cover of OFF TOWN Magazine in their August 2024 issue. The editorial, “Nature’s Runway,” showcases Hannah Do and a striking design by Bach Mai. We shot in the heart of a San Francisco Bay Area mountain park, where the elegance of high fashion met the serenity of the natural world.

The metallic blues and silvers of the Bach Mai‘s babydoll dress contrasted sharply with the organic setting, yet there was a surprising harmony between the two. The dress’s structured pleats and shimmering fabrics played off the forest’s dappled sunlight, creating a soft interplay between the modern and the timeless. The reflective materials seemed to mirror the way the light moved through the trees, blurring the line between fashion and nature.
This type of shoot reminded me of Tim Walker’s iconic Vogue Italia editorial, where models were placed in enchanted forest settings. Much like Walker’s work, this shoot was a gentle reminder of how fashion, even at its most polished and structured, can resonate deeply with nature’s raw beauty. It’s these kinds of contrasts that create layers in the story, where fashion doesn’t overpower the setting but instead coexists with it.
This photoshoot also marks my 150th magazine feature, which feels like an important milestone in my journey. Each project brings something new, and this one, set in such a tranquil space, reminded me why I love photography.
In addition to capturing Bach Mai‘s design in this photoshoot, I had the privilege of photographing his stunning Fall/Winter 2024 and Spring/Summer 2025 collections during New York Fashion Week (NYFW), both featured on the CFDA schedule. His ability to weave elegance and bold creativity into each collection was evident, making every moment behind the camera a rewarding experience. We also have a few additional beautiful designs available that I look forward to capturing in future shoots. There’s always something exciting about the potential of bringing a designer’s vision to life, and I’m eager for the opportunity to explore these pieces further. You can find more of his designs, available for sale at Neiman Marcus.
