Generation Next at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Generation Next at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Some shoots stay with you long after you pack up your camera. My session with Minhee at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) was one of those moments. It was not just the location, though the DDP’s sweeping curves and silver skin always feel like something from a dream. It was Minhee herself. Her energy. Her way of making the camera disappear.

You could not help but smile when you watched her in action. She had a joy that felt natural. Unforced. The kind of happiness that bubbles up because it is simply who you are. When she is not modeling, Minhee works at a blockchain tech startup. You could see that same spark of curiosity and drive lighting up her presence during our shoot.

We chased the light through three corners of the DDP. Each one telling a different part of the story.

Outside The Dongdaemun Design Plaza

We started outside the Dongdaemun Design Plaza. This is the main venue where Seoul Fashion Week comes alive twice a year, and standing there, you could feel the creative energy lingering in the air.

The DDP’s bold, futuristic architecture wrapped around us like a living sculpture. The sky hung heavy and gray, but instead of gloom, it gave us the softest, dreamiest light. Minhee’s outfit was simple and strong: a black bodysuit, sheer tights, black boots, and a denim jacket slung just right over her shoulders.

She walked, turned, and smiled quietly, a hint of laughter catching in the air as if lifted by the rhythm of the moment. I kept shooting. You would have too. Her movements echoed the building’s curves. Strong arcs. Gentle pauses. Bursts of life. Somewhere beyond the frame, the city buzzed, but here, it was just her and the pulse of the place.

Inside the White Hallway: Light as a Canvas

Next, we slipped into one of DDP’s glowing white hallways. It felt like stepping into another world. A soft, endless tunnel of light and air. Black dots danced along the walls, breaking the space into playful patterns. It was impossible not to feel a lift in your spirit.

Minhee leaned into that feeling. She played with the space, tracing patterns with her hands, shifting her weight like a thought taking shape. Her black outfit stood out against the clean white, each pose a brushstroke on an invisible canvas. Here, her joy turned playful. You could see the fearless side of her, curious and light-hearted.

The Wooden Staircase: Finding Stillness

At last, we found a wooden staircase tucked inside the DDP. After all the steel and light, the warmth of the wood felt like a gentle pause. Golden tones wrapped around us, softening the atmosphere.

Here, Minhee shifted again. She moved into a slower rhythm, showing a quiet strength. She lounged on the steps, boots planted firm, jacket casually tossed aside. Her hair fell a little messier. Her smile, when it came, was softer. More thoughtful. The shadows grew longer, dancing along the wood and stone, as if leaning in to listen.

Every click of the shutter here felt like catching a private moment. A little secret shared between you and her.

Reflections on a Story Well Told

Some photoshoot collaborations are about outfits. Some are about locations. The ones you remember are about connection. About finding the story in the spaces between. Working with Minhee at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza and Mei in Ihwa-dong reminded me why I love this work. It is about trust. About letting the city, the model, and the moment breathe together.

If you are a brand, a model, a designer, or a creative with a story to tell, I would love to hear it. Let’s create something meaningful together. For more information, please contact us.
