VIGOUR Magazine Presents: 'Melbourne Hideaway' Featuring Hannah Do

This One Feels Extra Special

Our latest editorial photoshoot, Melbourne Hideaway, featuring Hannah Do, has just been published in the July 2025 issue of VIGOUR Magazine.

Just in time for her birthday!

It is always a real pleasure to see our work in print. But this feature feels especially meaningful. Hannah is not just the model in these photos. She is also my business partner at Kisau Photography and my life partner.

This cover story reflects not only our artistic collaboration but also the trust and understanding that come from sharing both work and life.

A Modern Echo of a Timeless Creative Bond

This moment brings to mind one of my favorite photographers, Norman Parkinson, who traveled the world photographing his wife Wenda for countless magazine covers, including British Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.

I have always admired the joy and spontaneity in his work. The way he turned everyday moments into high fashion, and love into legacy.

Working with Hannah in this way carries a similar spirit. Just like Parkinson, I believe the most powerful photographs emerge from connection and storytelling.

The Cover, The Interview, and The Editorial Spread

Inside the magazine, you will find an exclusive interview with both Hannah and me. We discuss the intention behind the shoot, our process as a creative team, and what it means to build a story through simplicity and space.

The accompanying editorial spread presents a full collection of images that reflect calm strength and visual clarity. Each photograph invites the viewer into a space of quiet elegance, where styling, emotion, and environment work in harmony.

The Corridor That Keeps Calling

The shoot took place in one of my favorite hidden gems in Melbourne. It’s a narrow architectural corridor lined with tall metal slats and bathed in soft natural light. I have returned to this location more times than I can count. Each time, it offers something new. The shadows move. The light evolves. The mood shifts.

For me, this corridor has become a creative companion. Balanced and geometric. Reflective and open. It is a photographer’s dream that was captured on several pages of The Melbourne Portraits Project: A Photographic Ode.

Styling That Lets Emotion Lead

For this session, we kept the styling clean and intentional. Hannah wore all black, creating a bold silhouette against the metallic surfaces. She carried a Prada bag. Stepped into Crocs for contrast. Paired the look with Louis Vuitton sunglasses and a handcrafted necklace by Butones Jewelry.

Each element was carefully chosen to support the scene, never overpowering it. The goal was to let Hannah’s presence, emotion, and movement take the lead.

In fashion editorial photography, less is often more. By stripping away distractions, we focused on what matters most: the relationship between subject, space, and light.

Hannah moved with quiet grace, offering moments of stillness and strength. The corridor itself became a sculptural frame, turning each image into its own story.

From Magazine to Photo Book

The images from this shoot will also appear in my upcoming photo book, Fashion and Editorial Photography: Sixteen Tales From Around the World. Each chapter captures a distinct shoot across eight cities on four continents, blending fashion, place, and story. Melbourne Hideaway is one of those chapters. Thoughtful and restrained. Intimate and precise. Deeply personal.

This VIGOUR Magazine feature represents a celebration of what Kisau Photography stands for. Creative excellence, emotional storytelling, and collaborative spirit. It also serves as a reminder of what can unfold when you trust your instincts, honor your environment, and work with someone who knows how to speak your visual language.

The Interview

Paul Tocatlian, what motivated this photoshoot with Hannah Do?

Some places never stop calling you back. For me, this corridor in Melbourne is one of those places. The light, the lines, and the quiet tension in the space always feel alive. It is like the space is waiting for someone to bring it to life. I knew I wanted to return, and I knew Hannah was the perfect person to join me. She knows how to tune into a space. She moves with intention and lets her presence match the light. We didn’t plan much. We just showed up and let the story unfold.

Hannah, what inspired the styling choices for this shoot?

We kept it simple so the space and emotion could lead. Everything I wore was chosen with care. The Louis Vuitton sunglasses gave me a sense of mystery. The Butones Jewelry necklace felt personal. The Prada bag added structure. And the Crocs added contrast. They are practical and playful. I wanted the look to feel like me while still giving room for the architecture and movement to shine.

Paul, this corridor seems to hold personal significance. Can you tell us more about it?

This spot has become a creative anchor for me. It is featured in The Melbourne Portraits Project: A Photographic Ode. I have probably done more shoots here than anywhere else in the world. It never feels old. The light and energy are always shifting. This place has taught me to slow down and pay attention. Coming back here reminded me why I love photographing in this space.

Hannah, how do you balance your dual role as both stylist and model?

It is something I really enjoy. As a stylist, I think about lines, texture, and how everything comes together. When I model, I try to let go of that and just feel. I bring my knowledge into the frame, but I also trust my instinct. The best shoots are the ones where I can move freely and respond to the space. I like switching between thinking and feeling. It helps me tell a fuller story.

Paul, how does this shoot fit into your upcoming photo book, Fashion and Editorial Photography: Sixteen Tales From Around The World?

This shoot is one of the chapters in the book. Each story in the book comes from a different photoshoot. Melbourne has been a big part of my journey. This session felt like a quiet reflection of that experience. It is simple, personal, and full of visual interest. That is the kind of story I want to include in the book.

Hannah, your energy in these photos moves between playful and introspective. How do you approach that duality?

That is just who I am. I do not try to perform. I let the moment shape me. Sometimes I feel still and quiet. Other times I want to move and explore. The space made room for both. I love that we did not force anything. We just followed what felt true. Paul made it easy to trust the process. He gives you space to be yourself. That is why the photos feel so real.

Paul, collaboration is a recurring theme in your work. How do you approach creative partnerships?

For me, it begins with respect and curiosity. I come in with an idea, but I stay open to what others bring. Every creative partner offers something unique. Hannah and I have a natural way of working together. We listen, challenge, and trust each other. I believe the best work comes from shared energy. It is not about control. It is about building something honest together.

Hannah, how do the ideas of being bold and dreaming big shape your creative life?

Being bold means being yourself. Dreaming big means not limiting what is possible. Whether I am styling, modeling, or just living my life, I try to stay open. Not every moment needs to be loud. Boldness can be quiet. Dreaming bigger can mean simply showing up as you are. That is what this shoot was about. It was about honoring the space, the story, and the people who brought it all to life.
